Of course that famed pho is on the menu, but we hear there are plenty of reasons to get reaquainted with the familiar spot, which is welcoming walk-ins only. Brisbane staple Fat Noodle has made the move over to the new development, bringing celeb chef Luke Nguyen’s iconic South East Asian flavours to a brand new setting. Sokyo, which you may know as a standout dining experience at The Star in Sydney, has come our way, bringing its signature innovative Japanese fare with it. While not everything inside is open yet, plenty of public spaces and venues are, which means we can all finally get a peek inside the mammoth development.
Now taking booking from 30 October, this rooftop spot will be all about Queesland dry-aged beef and seafood, plus plenty of locally sourced, seasonal produce, all cooked up on the grill or over a wood fire. Joining Cicadu Blu on Sky Deck is Babblers, Brisbane’s new go-to for all-day dining, with a menu that kicks off from 7am for breakfast in the sky and continues right through until the evening with dinner until late. Boasting a fresh new Mediterranean feel, you can now dine on incredible seafood as well well as their signature steaks, with the likes of king fish crudo and cheesy lobster mornay joining iconic dishes like their signature meatbals and steak tartare. Bonus, the sleek space also boasts panoramic river views, an expansive dancefloor and comfy lounges when you’re ready to rehydrate with a cocktail or two.
The entire precinct will also encompass seven heritage listed buildings across several blocks, all the way down to The Treasury Building, with plans for everything from a microbrewery and speakeasy bar to a cooking school and aboriginal art gallery in the works for the spaces once they are restored. Perched at the end of the Neville Bonner bridge, Pompette will also boast spectacular river views, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon drink before moving your attention to eats like steak au poivre, escargot, steak tartare, souffle and more. Also now taking booking for their impending opening on 18 October is Azteca, a Latin America-inspired venue coming to us from the team behind Line Rooftop, Soko Rooftop, Carmen Tequileria and Claw BBQ.
Taking out the title of highest rooftop bar in Brisbane, Cicada Blu is located 100 metres up on the Sky Deck—and the views are unmatched. The Star Grand Hotel is already welcoming guests, and other venues such as those along The Terrace and on the Sky Deck will open progressively throughout the following months. Whether you enter via the soaring Neville Bonner Bridge spanning the river in front of it, or through the stunning concourse from the CBD side, there’s no doubt this is one of Brisbane’s most impressive precincts—and we’re only in the first stage of a multi-phase opening, with plenty more to come. Star Entertainment Group announced on the weekend that The Star Brisbane would open on August 29 as part of a multi-phase opening of the $3.6 billion precent opposite Brisbane city’s South Bank. The Star Brisbane has previously announced several exciting venues that will open on day one, including the sprawling Sports Bar, a reimagined Fat Noodle restaurant by celebrity chef Luke Nguyen, the Japanese stand-out Sokyo, and Cherry.

“Our remediation is crucial and will ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes, We have a responsibility to our community, our guests, and our team members to provide the safest environment possible across the entire business.” Additional restaurants and bars on the Sky Deck and at The Terrace, where the pedestrian bridge connects to the city, are undergoing final fit-outs and will open progressively. “LiveWire will be one of our first venues to open, supporting and enhancing Brisbane’s nighttime entertainment economy,” Finch said. A variety of dining and leisure experiences have already been announced, including LiveWire, a new live entertainment venue. Art enthusiasts can look forward to incredible artworks throughout the precinct, including a signature piece from home-grown, internationally recognised artist Lindy Lee.
As a business, The Star is ahead of many in our industry in terms of diversity and inclusion, but there’s still a lot to do. In all seriousness, though, I was really honoured to be nominated and a finalist. Witnessing allies and LGBTQI+ members who embraced their identity with openness and pride inspired me to be true to myself. The Leisure Deck features an Event Deck, expansive lawn area for sunset picnics and exclusive resort amenities overlooking the city skyline. An iconic Brisbane destination like no other, the precinct blends stunning contemporary architecture with thoughtfully restored heritage buildings, and beautifully curated landscaped riverside parklands across more than 12 hectares on Brisbane’s river edge. On the art front, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane has announced “Sheila,” a five-metre-high, five-tonne bronze sculpture by Brisbane casino opening hours artist Justene Williams, as part of its $3.6 billion public art offering.
