Junior Accountant
Job Overview
Position Summary
We are seeking a Junior Accountant to support the finance and accounting team with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop their accounting skills in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and expense reports.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
Reconciliations & Reporting
- Perform bank and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare basic financial reports and accounting schedules.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial statements.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure accounting transactions are properly documented and supported.
- Assist with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organized financial documentation and records.
- Follow company accounting policies and internal controls.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, Procurement, HR, and other departments.
- Communicate with suppliers and customers regarding invoices and payments when required.
- Support senior accountants and the Finance Manager with ad-hoc accounting tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; internships are welcome.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, or similar qualification — completed or in progress.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar.
- Basic knowledge of VAT and other applicable tax requirements.
- Previous experience in a finance/accounting department.
