The tourist season runs from roughly April to October, longer in Paphos and Limassol. Hotels and restaurants recruit most between January and April, so apply early: the best positions and staff housing go first.
Ayia Napa and Protaras (Famagusta district) are the busiest summer resorts, then Paphos and Coral Bay, Limassol, Larnaca and Polis/Latchi. City hotels in Limassol and Nicosia hire all year.
Reception and front office, waiters and bartenders, cooks, chefs and kitchen staff, housekeeping, lifeguards, entertainment and kids' club animators, spa therapists, sales and tour representatives.
Hotel staff are covered by the hotel industry's collective agreement rather than the national minimum wage decree; restaurants and bars generally follow the national minimum (€979 a month when you start, €1,088 after six months), unless an agreement applies. Ask about tips and service charge.
Many resort employers offer staff accommodation and meals during the season. Ask before you accept, and make sure it is written in your contract, including what it costs you, if anything.
EU and EEA citizens can work in Cyprus without a work permit (staying longer than three months, you register with the Migration Department). Citizens of other countries need a permit, which the employer applies for before you start.
