System administrator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to maintain, manage, secure, and support the organization’s IT infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of servers, systems, applications, and core IT services.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with Windows and Linux environments, Active Directory, virtualization, Microsoft 365, backup systems, networking, and IT security.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers.
• Manage physical and virtual server infrastructure.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and access controls.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud

• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, conditional access, and user identities.
• Support cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments.
• Assist with cloud migrations and infrastructure improvements.

Virtualization & Infrastructure

• Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or similar.
• Provision and maintain virtual machines.
• Monitor resource utilization and optimize system performance.
• Support storage and infrastructure platforms.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Manage and monitor backup solutions.
• Perform regular backup verification and restoration testing.
• Maintain disaster recovery procedures and documentation.
• Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

Security

• Implement and maintain endpoint and server security controls.
• Apply security patches and vulnerability remediation.
• Manage antivirus/EDR solutions and security policies.
• Monitor security events and assist with incident response.
• Implement least-privilege access and secure configuration standards.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Monitor servers, applications, storage, and infrastructure using appropriate monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application, and connectivity issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Respond to system alerts and infrastructure incidents.

Documentation & Support

• Maintain accurate system documentation, network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Create and maintain technical knowledge-base articles.
• Provide escalation-level support to the Service Desk and IT teams.
• Work with vendors and third-party service providers when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure support.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Experience with:
  • Active Directory

  • VMware or Hyper-V
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • PowerShell and/or Bash scripting
  • Server monitoring and troubleshooting
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and routing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
• Microsoft 365 / Azure certifications
• VMware certification
• Linux certifications such as RHCSA
• ITIL Foundation
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and vulnerability management
